In Coralville, Iowa a 32 year old man named Derrick Ray of Crestwood, was charged with first-degree kidnapping and assault to his former girlfriend at a Coralville motel said police. A criminal complaint says that Ray met his girlfriend at the Super 7 to discuss their past relationship. When they got there, police say that Ray took his girlfriend’s car keys and phone from her. When the woman tried to run away, Ray beat her and pulled her back into the motel room. The complaint says that Ray had drove the woman around Coralville and refused to take her to a hospital. Ray had returned to the hotel and, after pleading from the woman, he had returned her keys and cellphone to her. The woman suffered from a black eye, needed stitches and quite possibly has a broken ankle. Due to the extensive swelling of the woman’s ankle, the hospital was unable to fully diagnose the ankle injury.
